Israeli Defense Minister Vows Crushing Response As Hezbollah Flees And IDF Tightens Northern Grip

Israel’s military strength forces massive Lebanese evacuations while Hezbollah suffers heavy losses under relentless strikes.

Israel’s Minister of Defense Israel Katz visited the Northern Command on Monday for a high-level security assessment alongside senior military leadership as Israel intensifies operations against Hezbollah. The visit included Northern Command chief Major General Rafi Milo, Northern Corps commander Major General Yaki Dolf, Deputy Northern Command chief Major General (res.) Moti Baruch, and several divisional commanders responsible for the defense of Israel’s northern border.

During the briefing, Katz was informed that the growing pressure from Israeli military operations has forced massive evacuations in Lebanon. Approximately 650,000 residents have fled from Dahieh in Beirut, while another half a million people have left southern Lebanon. Israeli commanders emphasized that the evacuations demonstrate the significant deterrence created by the IDF’s continued strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure and leadership.

The defense minister was also briefed on the successful elimination of Abu Hussein Ra’b, the commander of Hezbollah’s Nasser Unit, who was killed overnight in a precise Israeli strike. The operation represents another major blow to Hezbollah’s command structure as Israel continues dismantling the terrorist organization’s operational capabilities.

Speaking to commanders and troops, Katz praised the determination and readiness of the Israeli military forces defending the northern border. He emphasized that Israeli soldiers clearly understand their mission to protect the country’s communities and ensure that attacks from Hezbollah will never again threaten civilians living near the border.

Katz stressed that Israel’s decision to move forward decisively to defend its communities was both morally justified and operationally necessary. According to the defense minister, the strong military posture is essential to restore confidence among Israeli residents and to ensure that past security failures are never repeated.

He made it clear that Israel will not abandon its border communities under any circumstances. The priority, he said, is ensuring that every Israeli family can remain safely in their homes without fear of cross-border raids or anti-tank missile attacks from Hezbollah militants.

The defense minister also called on military commanders to expand operational planning and continue striking Hezbollah’s capabilities wherever necessary. He emphasized that Israel must take full advantage of the current strategic situation to weaken Hezbollah even further and remove threats that have existed along the northern border for years.

Katz also criticized the Lebanese government for failing to uphold its commitments to disarm Hezbollah. He pointed out that Lebanon had signed agreements accepting responsibility for preventing Hezbollah activity in southern Lebanon but has not enforced those commitments. According to Katz, the Lebanese army and government allowed Hezbollah to expand its presence in the south without interference.

The defense minister concluded that Israel must rely on its own strength rather than outside guarantees. If threats are not removed by international actors, Israel will take action itself to ensure the safety of its citizens. Katz expressed confidence that the ongoing operations will ultimately produce a stronger and more secure environment for communities along Israel’s northern frontier.
