Israel’s Psychological Warfare Shakes Beirut As Leaflets Target Hezbollah Influence And Challenge Lebanese Militancy Networks

Israel reportedly drops intelligence leaflets over Beirut exposing Hezbollah grip and urging civilians to reconsider alliances.

The Lebanese army announced that an Israeli aircraft allegedly dropped leaflets over Beirut containing QR codes that, according to Lebanese officials, lead to electronic contact channels linked to an Israeli intelligence unit. Authorities claimed the purpose of the codes was to allow civilians to communicate through platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook, potentially opening channels for intelligence cooperation.

According to the Lebanese military statement, the leaflets were distributed in several areas of Beirut and contained QR codes that direct users to online communication links. Officials warned civilians not to scan the codes or access the links, claiming they could be used to recruit individuals for intelligence activities.

The Lebanese army further cautioned that interacting with the links could carry legal and security risks under Lebanese law. They also suggested that scanning the QR codes could expose users’ mobile devices to potential intrusion or access to personal information.

The development highlights the ongoing information and psychological dimension of the broader conflict between Israel and Iranian-backed forces operating across Lebanon. Israeli intelligence efforts have long focused on countering Hezbollah’s influence and gathering information on militant infrastructure threatening Israeli civilians.
