‘Summit of Fire’: Israel Strikes Hamas Leadership Meeting in Doha, Khaled Mashal Reportedly Killed

Israel’s “Summit of Fire” strike in Doha reportedly killed Hamas chief Khaled Mashal and three top leaders, shattering Hamas’s safe haven in Qatar.

Doha, Qatar — In a stunning first, Israeli fighter jets struck the Qatari capital Tuesday afternoon, targeting a secret Hamas leadership meeting in the Qatara neighborhood. According to Saudi network Al Hadath, Hamas chief Khaled Mashal and at least three senior lieutenants were killed in the unprecedented operation.

The strike, codenamed “Summit of Fire,” is the first time Israel has openly targeted Hamas’s leadership in Qatar, long a safe haven where the terror group’s leaders lived in luxury while orchestrating attacks on Israel. For 23 months after the October 7 massacre, Mashal and his deputies remained untouchable—until now.

In addition to Mashal, reports list Khalil al-Hayya, Zaher Jabarin, and Nizar Awadallah among the eliminated. These men were central to Hamas’s war planning, financing, and foreign negotiations.

Confusion remains, however. Al Jazeera, citing a Hamas source, claimed the leaders survived the attack. Hamas itself has not issued an official statement, and Qatar has also remained silent on the aftermath.

The IDF confirmed the strike and released the name of the operation but stopped short of declaring Mashal’s death. Israeli sources say the decision to act came after Monday’s bloody terror attack in Jerusalem, with U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly approving the strike in coordination with Israel.

If confirmed, the elimination of Khaled Mashal — the face of Hamas abroad — would mark a historic decapitation of Hamas’s foreign command structure and send shockwaves through the Middle East.
