Turkish Journalists Arrested Near Kirya Base Amid Security Fears and Suspected Live Broadcast Activity

Swift police action halts alleged foreign media transmission near sensitive Tel Aviv military headquarters.

Two Turkish journalists were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of documenting the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv for CNN Turkey.

According to a police spokesperson, officers were dispatched to the scene after an emergency hotline call reported two individuals carrying professional cameras and allegedly broadcasting in real-time for a foreign media outlet. The Kirya compound serves as one of Israel’s most sensitive security hubs, housing senior defense leadership and strategic command units.

Upon arrival, police halted the reported transmission and began questioning the suspects. Authorities stated that the individuals identified themselves as journalists but presented expired press credentials.

Both suspects were taken into custody for further investigation to determine the nature of the filming and whether any security regulations were violated.

Israeli security officials have repeatedly warned that unauthorized documentation of strategic facilities — particularly during heightened regional tensions — could pose operational risks. Law enforcement emphasized that investigations remain ongoing and no final conclusions have yet been announced.
