NASA’s Artemis II mission has delivered its first spectacular images of Earth, offering a powerful reminder of human ingenuity as astronauts journey toward the moon for the first time in more than five decades. The crew, consisting of three Americans and one Canadian, shared visuals captured from their Orion spacecraft just days into the historic mission.
One image, taken by commander Reid Wiseman, reveals a curved slice of Earth glowing against the darkness of space, while another showcases the full planet adorned with swirling clouds over vast oceans. At the time of transmission, the spacecraft had already traveled roughly 90,000 miles from Earth and continues to accelerate toward the moon, with arrival expected shortly.
The mission marks a significant milestone, being the first human lunar journey since Apollo 17 in 1972. After reaching lunar orbit, the crew will execute a precise maneuver around the moon before returning directly to Earth, demonstrating advanced navigation and propulsion capabilities.
