Knesset Postpones Emergency Debate on Shooting Attacks Against Civilians in Judea and Samaria

MK Tzvi Succot delays planned committee session on gunfire at Israeli civilians during West Bank riots after multiple requests from security and political officials.

In a sudden development, MK Tzvi Succot has agreed to postpone a high-stakes Knesset debate that was slated for Sunday in the Subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, which he chairs. The session—titled “Firing at Civilians by Disorderly Rioters in Judea and Samaria”—was called off following numerous appeals from figures across the settlement movement, the military, and the political establishment.

The original discussion was set to shine a harsh light on a growing security concern: Israeli civilians coming under live fire during riots in Judea and Samaria. Succot had invited representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of National Security, and the IDF to attend.

According to Arutz Sheva – Israel National News, Succot intended to demand a full breakdown of all such shooting incidents over the past five years—including the ages of victims, severity of injuries, and detailed profiles of the events. The inquiry was also to probe whether rules of engagement have changed in the past year and whether any procedural breaches had occurred.

While the debate has been postponed, the security implications remain pressing. Sources close to Succot indicate that the session is likely to be rescheduled in the near future, with the same investigative scope—and possibly sharper political ramifications.
