Israeli military says coordinated intelligence campaign dismantled senior leadership of regional terror network.
The Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson’s Unit announced Sunday that the Israeli Air Force’s elimination of Ali Khamenei in Tehran marks what it described as the culmination of a sustained campaign against the senior leadership of what it calls the Iranian terror axis during the War of Revival.
According to the statement, the broader campaign targeted key figures across multiple fronts. Among those previously eliminated were Hassan Nasrallah, identified as the head of Hezbollah, and much of the group’s senior leadership. The IDF also cited the killing of Yahya Sinwar, leader of Hamas, along with Mohammed Deif, commander of Hamas’ military wing, and numerous senior operatives within that structure.
In Yemen, the IDF reported the elimination of Muhammad al-Ghamari, described as Chief of General Staff of the Houthi regime. Within Iran’s military hierarchy, officials listed as eliminated included Gholam Ali Rashid, Mohammad Bagheri, and Hossein Salami, along with additional senior defense figures.
The IDF stated that these operations were conducted through precise intelligence gathering and targeted strikes, including missions under Operation Rising Lion and Operation Northern Arrows. It asserted that these senior officials had, over decades, worked to advance attacks against Israel, including the October 7 massacre and other incidents.
According to the military, the cumulative effect of these eliminations significantly weakens the operational capabilities of aligned militant networks across the region. The IDF said it will continue targeting infrastructure and individuals it identifies as posing threats to Israel’s security.
