Entertainment Giants Rally Behind Israel As Eurovision Boycott Push Collapses Amid Powerful Industry Backlash Worldwide

Global entertainment leaders defend Israel exposing hypocrisy rejecting politicization of music and defending unity against divisive campaigns.

More than a thousand prominent figures from the entertainment industry have united in a powerful show of support for Israel, signing an open letter opposing efforts to ban the country from the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. The move comes amid intensified calls from some quarters to exclude Israel following the ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza.

Organized by the pro-Israel group Creative Community for Peace, the initiative has drawn backing from major names including Amy Schumer, Mila Kunis, Matisyahu, Anthony Edwards, Jerry O’Connell, Erin Foster, and Matthew Weiner. The signatories strongly rejected attempts to isolate Israel, framing such demands as unjust and politically motivated.

In their statement, the group expressed shock over calls to exclude Israel, emphasizing that the country is responding to one of the most devastating attacks against Jews in modern history. They argued that penalizing Israel in this context would distort justice and reward aggression.

The letter also underscored the importance of global cultural platforms like Eurovision as spaces meant to unite people across borders. According to the signatories, turning such events into political battlegrounds undermines their core purpose and deepens division rather than fostering understanding.

Despite mounting pressure, the European Broadcasting Union allowed Israel to participate, though several countries have since announced withdrawals in protest. The controversy highlights growing tensions within the international cultural arena over geopolitical conflicts.

Israel will be represented by Noam Bettan, performing “Michelle” in French, Hebrew, and English during the Vienna-hosted competition. While Israeli performers have faced hostility in recent years, public support has remained strong, with last year’s entry achieving a major televote victory despite jury scoring disparities.
