Smotrich Launches Jerusalem Innovation Drive as Finance Ministry Honors Jewish Heritage on Jerusalem Day Tour

Israel advances Jerusalem’s future with AI investment, innovation power, and renewed commitment to Jewish sovereignty.

Senior leaders from Israel’s Finance Ministry marked Jerusalem Day with a powerful professional tour through the City of David, reinforcing the deep bond between Israel’s modern economic mission and the ancient heritage of the Jewish people.

The visit also marked the official entry into office of Finance Ministry Director-General Israel Malachi. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich joined the tour, which was led by David Be’eri, head of the Elad Association. The delegation walked along the ancient pilgrimage route near the Old City, connecting the ministry’s present-day work with Jerusalem’s historic Jewish foundations.

After the tour, the ministry’s leadership held a formal professional meeting near the walls of the Old City. Smotrich said the ministry’s daily responsibility for Israel’s economy draws strength from the nation’s heritage and from the privilege of continuing Jewish history through state-building, governance, and economic leadership.

Smotrich also announced a major NIS 80 million development initiative for Jerusalem. The flagship plan will establish national artificial intelligence laboratories and a large innovation center at the capital’s entrance district, in partnership with the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The investment aims to bring elite technology units, entrepreneurs, and advanced innovation activity into Jerusalem, strengthening the capital as a national and international engine of growth. The initiative forms part of a broader government plan expected to approve hundreds of millions of shekels for Jerusalem’s continued development.
