Mother of Hostage Avinatan Or Opposes Ceasefire Deal: “Only Victory Will Bring Him Home”
Ditza Or, mother of Hamas hostage Avinatan Or, issued a strong plea against what she called a “surrender deal,” urging the Israeli government to reject negotiations and pursue a decisive military victory.
“If we surrender now—we won’t get them all back,” she told 103FM. “Only a decisive victory will bring my son home and restore Israel’s security.”
Or questioned the rationale for negotiations, noting Hamas’s reported collapse: “They’ve lost control of 80% of Gaza and most of their leadership is gone—why give them breathing room now? Even these talks give them undeserved legitimacy.”
She expressed deep skepticism toward phased hostage releases, warning: “Partial deals won’t bring everyone back. It’s a path to nowhere.”
Reflecting on recent military decisions, she said: “We pulled back jets mid-operation in Iran. If we think surrender, we’ll get surrender. If we think victory, we’ll achieve victory.”
Or cautioned that a ceasefire would allow Hamas to regroup: “Two months of quiet gives them fuel, internet, and life—while those left behind stay underground. We’re digging their graves ourselves.”
On U.S. pressure, she remained firm: “When we showed strength in Iran, they stood with us. If we win in Gaza, they’ll support us again. Hamas is already defeated—don’t bring them back.”
In a quiet moment, Or shared her personal strength: “I don’t run emotional campaigns. I speak to my son quietly—he’s a man of purpose. That’s how he survives. That’s how he’ll return—with everyone.”
