In a stunning strike, the IDF reportedly eliminated Hamas leaders Khaled Mashal, Zaher Jabarin, and Nizar Awadallah in Doha, shattering the group’s foreign command hub.
Doha, Qatar — A massive explosion rocked the Qatara neighborhood of Doha late Tuesday, sending thick plumes of smoke over the Qatari capital. Hours later, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it had conducted a precision strike on Hamas’s leadership headquarters in the city — a stunning escalation against the terror group’s operatives abroad.
According to the IDF and Israel Security Agency (ISA), the strike targeted senior Hamas leaders who “directly orchestrated the October 7th massacre and have continued to manage the war against Israel from abroad.” The military stressed that the attack employed “precise munitions and real-time intelligence” to minimize civilian harm.
Saudi media reports claim that Khaled Mashal, Hamas’s overseas leader, Zaher Jabarin, head of operations in Judea and Samaria, and Nizar Awadallah, senior figure in Gaza, were eliminated in the strike. Israeli sources also listed Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas’s Gaza Strip leadership and negotiating team, among the intended targets.
Doha has long served as a hub for Hamas’s political and military leadership, hosting negotiations with Israel while simultaneously providing sanctuary for the organization’s operatives. The Iraqi Sabrin News network confirmed the strike hit Hamas’s headquarters in Qatar.
The attack comes less than two weeks after IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir vowed to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad, declaring: “Our actions are not yet complete. Most of Hamas’s leadership is abroad — and we will reach them as well.”
The operation was reportedly coordinated in advance with the United States, though only a handful of Israeli cabinet members were briefed, underscoring the sensitivity and scale of the mission.
With Hamas’s foreign command struck at its core, the reverberations of this unprecedented attack in Doha could redefine the balance of Israel’s war against the terror group.
