Israel’s FM Gideon Sa’ar meets Croatian PM Plenković, pushing Trump’s peace framework while warning of Iran’s multi-front strategy against Israel.
Zagreb, Croatia — Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar met on Tuesday with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the Prime Minister’s Office in Zagreb, holding high-level talks on bilateral ties and the escalating Middle East crisis.
The meeting began with a private discussion between Sa’ar and Plenković, followed by a wider session with both delegations. Sa’ar thanked Croatia for its unwavering support following the October 7th massacre, stressing that Israel deeply values Zagreb’s solidarity during one of its darkest chapters.
Turning to the war in Gaza, Sa’ar reiterated that Israel seeks an end to hostilities based on former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal, aligned with principles set by Israel’s Security Cabinet. According to the framework, all 48 hostages — both living and deceased — would be released immediately in exchange for hundreds of terrorists and thousands of Palestinian detainees, while Israel halts its takeover of Gaza City and enters direct negotiations under Trump’s management.
Sa’ar also condemned the recent deadly terrorist attack in Jerusalem and the continued rocket fire from Gaza, underscoring that Israel has been under attack “on all fronts” for two years. He warned that Iran remains the driving force behind coordinated regional aggression, seeking Israel’s elimination through multi-front assaults.
“Israel wants peace, but it cannot come at the expense of our security and our citizens’ lives,” Sa’ar declared. “We are not the aggressor — we are defending our existence.”
The Zagreb talks highlighted not only Israel’s determination to secure peace through strength but also the growing importance of Croatia as a steadfast ally within the European Union.
