The Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem was broken into on Wednesday night, and six rare birds and about 20 Loriini parrots were stolen from it.
Three intruders were captured by the security cameras at the location. The intruders are believed to have monitored the security system in the area for a long time, planned the intrusion, and knew exactly which animals to take.
The zoo’s director, Sigalit Hertz, stated, “We believe that these are animal traffickers who knew exactly what to steal. We are in contact with the police and the Nature and Parks Authority, and right now we are analyzing the information, hoping to find them and return them quickly and safely to the zoo.”
The police have opened an investigation, and the zoo is preparing to strengthen its security measures to prevent further incidents in the future.
