Trump: ‘I’ll be very firm with Netanyahu on Gaza’

US President says Israeli PM also wants to end the war in Gaza, which will be a topic of conversation during their meeting next week.

US President Donald Trump said that he will be “very firm” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the two leaders meet at the White House next week.

Trump told reporters that he will discuss the need for the war in Gaza to end and that Netanyahu also “wants to end the war.”

He went on to criticize media outlets that downplay the success of the American strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, stating: “CNN, mostly, and the New York Times demeaned these great soldiers…It was a total and complete OBLITERATION, and we should celebrate these heroes.”

Earlier, Trump stated that he hoped a ceasefire would be reached in Gaza sometime next week and that the end of the Gaza war would be one of the topics of conversation during his meeting with Netanyahu, as would the success of the ’12 Day War’ against Iran.

He said, “He’s coming here. We’re gonna talk about a lot of things. We’re going to talk about the great success we had [in Iran]. I mean, we had an incredible success, like nobody’s had in many years. That was a precision warstrike — and the word ‘obliteration’ can now be used, because the Atomic Energy Commission said you can’t even get into the place. It was demolished.”

“We’re also going to talk about Gaza,” he added. “We want to get the rest – we got a lot of hostages back, but we’re going to talk about Gaza.”
