Prime Minister Netanyahu honors memory of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky at Washington embassy.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, participated Thursday in a solemn memorial ceremony at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, honoring the memory of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, of blessed memory—two dedicated embassy staff members who were tragically murdered in a heinous antisemitic attack while serving their country abroad. The couple had been engaged to be married.
The memorial brought together grieving families, members of the Prime Minister’s delegation, the Embassy team, and Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, who both initiated and organized the event. Ambassador Leiter, whose own son fell in battle early in the current war in Gaza, was praised by the Prime Minister for his unwavering service and dignity in representing Israel. Netanyahu lauded Leiter’s fortitude, highlighting his principled presence in the American media, with US officials, and on Capitol Hill.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow and admiration for the lives and service of Sarah and Yaron, underscoring the painful price some pay simply for representing the Jewish state in an increasingly hostile climate.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Netanyahu is scheduled to give interviews to major American media outlets, continuing his diplomatic engagement during this critical visit.
As a gesture of goodwill, former US President Donald Trump extended a personal invitation to the Prime Minister and his wife. On their way to the airport, they will stop for a symbolic visit to Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson—the third President of the United States and one of the Founding Fathers. Jefferson’s enduring legacy as a champion of liberty and democracy, rooted in the will of the people, resonates powerfully at a time when both nations continue to grapple with the challenges of preserving those values.
