BLF Claims Responsibility for Major Coordinated Assaults Across Balochistan in ‘Operation Baam’
The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a sweeping wave of armed attacks across Balochistan, announcing what it called the “successful completion” of Operation Baam—a large-scale, two-day campaign involving 84 coordinated assaults, according to The Balochistan Post.
In a statement released on Friday evening, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that the group conducted the operations between July 9 and July 11, targeting Pakistani military and intelligence forces, as well as critical state infrastructure.
According to the BLF, at least 50 personnel from the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps were killed, and over 51 others injured. The group further alleged that nine individuals it identified as intelligence agents were executed at a checkpoint in Musakhel.
The group provided detailed claims of its actions, stating that it carried out over 30 direct assaults, including four ambushes, striking personnel and facilities belonging to the Pakistan Army, Military Intelligence (MI), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), police, Levies, and Customs. The BLF also claimed to have destroyed or disabled 25 vehicles, including gas tankers and mineral transport trucks.
Further actions reportedly included the burning of seven mobile towers, shooting down five surveillance drones, and damaging a government-owned bus and a local bank, according to The Balochistan Post.
The BLF said it also temporarily established 22 checkpoints across strategically important areas—Makuran, Rakhshan, Sarawan, Jhalawan, Koh-e-Sulaiman, Bela, and Kachhi—where it briefly seized control and reportedly confiscated weapons.
In its statement, the BLF described Operation Baam as a “strategic transformation” of its military approach aimed at disrupting the state’s administrative control over the region, which it referred to as the “Punjabi-occupied Pakistani state.” The group asserted that Pakistan could no longer govern Balochistan through “violence, propaganda, or the illusion of parliamentary democracy,” citing long-standing grievances over resource exploitation and ethnic marginalization.
“Balochistan will no longer be the provider of golden eggs to a parasitic state,” the statement warned, promising increasing retaliation in the face of continued state repression.
The BLF characterized Operation Baam as a “milestone in the national liberation movement,” suggesting that it marks the beginning of a new phase of organized armed resistance.
