Samaria Chief Urges Stronger Israeli Response to Druze Massacre in Syria

Yossi Dagan calls on Israel to escalate strikes on Syrian regime targets to halt the killing of Druze civilians and affirm its role as a regional protector.

In the wake of brutal assaults by the Syrian regime on Druze communities in southern Syria, Yossi Dagan, head of Israel’s Samaria Regional Council, is urging the Israeli government to act with greater force and clarity.

“Israel must significantly escalate its military response, including targeted strikes on official Syrian regime assets, until the massacre of the Druze population comes to an end,” Dagan stated emphatically.

Dagan framed the situation not only as a humanitarian crisis but also a pivotal moment in regional power dynamics.

“This is not merely an ethical imperative — it is also a strategic necessity,” he asserted. “Israel must demonstrate that it is a regional force capable of defending its loyal allies. The message must be loud and clear: those who target our friends cannot act with impunity.”

His remarks follow intensified Israeli airstrikes authorized by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, aimed at regime forces that had attacked the Druze city of As-Suwayda. The assault left dozens dead and sparked global concern about the regime’s deepening brutality against minorities.
