Israel’s Knesset Unites in Historic Push to Apply Sovereignty Over Judea and Samaria

In a powerful show of unity, Israeli leaders declare the time has come to permanently apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, calling it a historic and moral imperative.

In a powerful and unprecedented gathering at the Knesset, Israeli lawmakers, ministers, and thought leaders came together on Monday to declare a resounding call: the time for Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria is now. Spearheaded by Likud MKs in collaboration with the Sovereignty Movement, “Israel is Forever,” and other Zionist organizations, the conference echoed a shared vision of reclaiming Israel’s historical and strategic heartland.

Among the attendees were senior government officials including Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, Economy Minister Nir Barkat, Minister Amichai Chikli, and a wide range of Members of Knesset. The event also welcomed former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and leading figures of the Sovereignty Movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar.

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana opened the conference by invoking Israel’s historical truth: “The occupation did not begin in 1967 — it ended. The Jewish people are not foreign occupiers in Judea, a land bearing our name for 3,000 years. This is our home.” He warned that relinquishing Judea and Samaria would endanger Jerusalem and undermine Israel’s core.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin highlighted how close Israel had come to applying sovereignty in recent years: “Maps were drawn. Infrastructure was prepared. We stood on the verge of a monumental move — but were stopped. Now we face a historic opportunity. We must act decisively and apply sovereignty to every inch of our ancestral homeland.”

Former U.S. Ambassador Friedman lamented missed opportunities but stood firm in support: “This is not a land grab — this is justice. Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria is essential to fighting terror and fulfilling a historic promise.”

Energy Minister Eli Cohen emphasized sovereignty as non-negotiable: “If forced to choose between peace with Saudi Arabia or sovereignty — we choose sovereignty. We already proved peace is possible without a Palestinian state. Sovereignty is our right and our duty.”

MKs Dan Illouz, Moshe Passal, Avichai Boaron, Keti Shitrit, Ariel Kallner, and others delivered a chorus of bold affirmations. Each speech underscored one truth: Sovereignty is not just a political maneuver — it’s the moral culmination of Israel’s journey, a security necessity, and a strategic answer to October 7.

Maj. Gen. (res.) Gershon Hacohen presented the security argument: “Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and our major infrastructure are indefensible without Judea and Samaria. Sovereignty is not symbolic — it’s existential.”

Yesha Council CEO Omer Rahamim added: “Out of seven fronts post-October 7, Judea and Samaria remain unchanged. That’s unacceptable. The time to shift strategy is now. The time for sovereignty is now.”

Sovereignty Movement co-chairs Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar concluded the conference with a rallying cry: “We thank the Knesset for moving us forward. Now is the time to turn words into law, and law into history. The people of Israel demand sovereignty — let us fulfill that call with courage and purpose.”
