While ordinary Gazans remain buried under rubble and under fire, families of Hamas leaders—including Yahya Sinwar’s widow—reportedly escaped to Turkey in secret, triggering public outrage.
Gaza City – July 2025
As Israeli airstrikes continue to pound the Gaza Strip and ceasefire negotiations stall, outrage is erupting among Gazans over revelations that the families of top Hamas leaders quietly fled the Strip, leaving behind a devastated population to face the chaos alone.
Local sources told Ynet that Hamas commanders, foreseeing the inevitable military escalation, smuggled their wives and children to safety weeks in advance—a move perceived by many as betrayal.
“They left us to die,” said one Gazan resident. “Their families are in Turkey—ours are under rubble.”
The report identifies Samar Abu Zamer, widow of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, as having escaped to Turkey with her children—using a forged passport obtained through elite Hamas channels. She is now reportedly remarried in Turkey, with the help of Fathi Hamad, a senior Hamas political figure with a known history of orchestrating covert exits.
Another high-profile escapee is Najawa, wife of Mohammed Sinwar, who also reportedly left Gaza with her children before her husband was killed in an Israeli strike. Israeli defense officials confirmed that both women crossed through Rafah using high-level coordination and substantial financial resources—luxuries far beyond the reach of ordinary Gazans.
“This kind of extraction operation requires money, planning, forged documents, and connections,” said a local source. “The average Gazan can barely find clean water.”
As these reports surface, frustration and fury have exploded across Gaza. With over 30,000 deaths and thousands wounded, survivors say the news only underscores a pattern of abandonment by Hamas’ ruling elite—who continue to hide in tunnels, issue commands, and propagate war, while ensuring their loved ones are safe overseas.
