MK Zvi Sukkot receives a chilling letter from a self-proclaimed extremist group threatening to harm his family unless he votes to bring down Israel’s government.
YITZHAR, SAMARIA — A political storm erupted Monday night after Knesset Member Zvi Sukkot (Religious Zionism) received a menacing death threat at his home — complete with unidentified suspicious material — from a shadowy group calling itself the “Israeli Avengers Organization.”
The chilling letter issued explicit threats against Sukkot and his family, demanding that he actively work to topple the government. The group set out specific political ultimatums, including voting against the coalition in every plenum and committee debate, supporting the release of hostages, opposing the head of the Shin Bet, resisting the dismissal of the Attorney General, and striking down laws that would allow haredi draft exemptions.
The letter delivered a stark warning:
“We will locate one of your family members — from any extended family of coalition members — and harm them without detection. Or we will harm your spouse, one of your children, or grandchildren.”
In an even darker closing statement, the authors vowed:
“This is not an empty threat. We will harm you or one of your innocent family members in the future.”
Sukkot Demands Shin Bet Action
Visibly disturbed, Sukkot condemned the threats and called for immediate and decisive intervention from Israel’s Shin Bet security service:
“The phenomenon of threats against coalition members has been going on for a year and a half. The time has come for the Shin Bet to use its full force to stop it. It is inconceivable that an anonymous group would intimidate elected officials to change the democratic process while the security forces stand by. If someone is hurt, the Shin Bet will not be able to say, ‘Our hands did not spill this blood.’”
The threat underscores a deepening climate of political hostility and intimidation within Israel, as ideological tensions escalate over the government’s policies and wartime decision-making.
Security authorities are investigating the origin of the letter and the unidentified material enclosed, while questions mount over whether the “Israeli Avengers Organization” is a genuine operational group or a fabricated cover for politically motivated intimidation.
