Real estate magnate Steve Witkoff and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee spent over five hours inside Gaza on a Trump‑directed mission, pledging to deliver a fact‑based account of humanitarian conditions and spearhead a large‑scale food and medical aid effort.
Gaza Strip — In a dramatic and politically charged humanitarian mission, Steve Witkoff, a close ally of former US President Donald Trump, and Ambassador Mike Huckabee crossed into Gaza this week, spending more than five hours on the ground to personally assess the reality of life inside the war‑torn territory.
Witkoff revealed that the visit — coordinated with Israeli officials — was aimed at “level‑setting the facts on the ground” and gathering first‑hand intelligence to give Trump a clear, unfiltered picture of the humanitarian situation.
“We met with multiple agencies, assessed conditions, and spoke to people directly impacted. The goal is to help craft a plan to deliver urgently needed food and medical aid,” Witkoff wrote on X.
Huckabee: ‘We See a Very Different Picture’
Huckabee, who joined the delegation, said the trip was explicitly initiated by Trump to cut through what he called media distortions.
“The president wants us to go firsthand and report back to him directly,” Huckabee said in an earlier radio interview. “There has been so much misinformation. We see a very different picture of what’s taking place in Gaza than what’s reported by the New York Times or other outlets.”
The team visited food distribution hubs and toured regions reported to be experiencing severe shortages. Huckabee highlighted the Global Humanitarian Foundation’s (GHF) role in delivering over one million meals a day, calling it “an incredible feat.”
Strategic Briefings from the IDF
Before entering Gaza, the delegation received security and situational briefings from the Israel Defense Forces, ensuring safe passage through the volatile area. They also met aid workers on the ground, discussing logistical bottlenecks and ways to speed up the flow of life‑saving supplies.
Beyond Politics: Humanitarian Imperative
The mission is expected to form the basis of a Trump‑backed humanitarian strategy for Gaza — a plan that would prioritize rapid delivery of food and medicine while countering Hamas exploitation of aid channels.
By bypassing traditional media filters and relying on firsthand observation, Witkoff and Huckabee aim to reshape the narrative about humanitarian conditions in Gaza while building international support for targeted, effective aid delivery.
