Israel Unleashes NIS 3.2 Billion Rebirth Plan for the South After October 7 Atrocities

In a bold post-war move, Israel launches a sweeping NIS 3.2 billion revival plan to rebuild, fortify, and supercharge Ashkelon and the Western Negev into thriving, secure powerhouses.

The Israeli Government has greenlit a historic NIS 3.2 billion mega-investment to rebuild and supercharge the south in the wake of Hamas’s October 7 massacre — a day etched into the nation’s soul. This sweeping recovery blueprint is designed to fortify civilian life, turbocharge economic growth, and shield communities from future threats.

Acting under the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the plan — crafted in collaboration with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and multiple government arms — delivers two monumental commitments:

1. Ashkelon’s Bold Transformation – NIS 1.4 Billion

Ashkelon will undergo a dramatic rebirth:

  • Education Renaissance: Bolstering schools and learning excellence.
  • Civic Resilience: Empowering residents and municipal systems.
  • Next-Level Infrastructure: Roads, utilities, and public spaces upgraded.
  • Cultural & Sports Revival: Landmark projects to enrich daily life.
  • Economic Lift-Off: Stimulating local business growth.
  • Enhanced Security: A safer, more protected city for all.

2. Western Negev Renewal – NIS 1.8 Billion (2025-2029)

Covering Ofakim, Netivot, and the Merhavim, Eshkol, Sha’ar Hanegev, and Sdot Negev regions, this visionary plan will deliver:

  • Elite Education & Talent Growth
  • Industrial & Agritech Zones – including a pioneering biogas facility in Merhavim.
  • Innovation in Action – A Paralympic village and a cutting-edge health and rehabilitation research hub.
  • Infrastructure Surge – Modern public institutions and community spaces.

Prime Minister Netanyahu declared:

“We are rebuilding stronger than ever. The people of the south have stood unshaken through unimaginable trials — now it’s our turn to repay their courage with unprecedented prosperity.”

Finance Minister Smotrich reinforced:

“This is not just rebuilding — this is rebirth. The south is the beating heart of Israel, and we are restoring its strength and spirit.”

PMO Acting Director General Drorit Steinmetz concluded:

“This is a data-driven, people-first mission to secure the south’s future with lasting change.”

With this monumental investment of resources and resolve, Israel signals to its enemies and its own people alike: the south will not just survive — it will thrive.
