Israeli Minister Slams Piers Morgan Over “Disgusting” Hypocrisy Claim on Hamas Hostage Video

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli blasts Piers Morgan for equating Hamas’s doctored casualty claims with undeniable hostage abuse footage.

Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli has delivered a scathing rebuke to British TV personality Piers Morgan, accusing him of moral blindness after Morgan suggested pro-Israel voices were guilty of hypocrisy over Hamas-released hostage videos.

In a Saturday post on X, Morgan wrote:

“It’s interesting that all the prominent pro-Israeli voices on here who refuse to believe any Gazan casualty numbers published by the Hamas-run Palestinian health ministry, accept the veracity of hostage pix/videos posted by Hamas without hesitation.”

Chikli fired back on Sunday, calling the remark “utterly disgusting” — a sentiment echoed by an avalanche of furious online responses.

Morgan’s comments came in the wake of a horrifying Hamas propaganda video showing Israeli hostage Evyatar David — emaciated, frail, and forced to dig his own grave deep inside a Gaza tunnel.

Social media users quickly dismantled Morgan’s comparison:

  • “You do understand there’s a difference between ‘numbers Hamas says’ and a video we see with OUR OWN EYES — where we know the hostage, we know his family, he’s our brother. Right?” one wrote.
  • “Of all the dumb takes about this war, this one might take the cake,” said another.
  • A third quipped, “This is truly your stupidest take yet. Mazel Tov!”

One user even asked xAI’s AI bot Grok to explain the obvious. Grok responded:

“Visual hostage videos from Hamas often feature identifiable individuals, corroborated by families and intelligence, serving as proof of life for negotiations. In contrast, casualty figures from the Hamas-run ministry have a history of inflation and manipulation for propaganda, as noted in past conflicts and independent analyses, warranting skepticism.”

The clash adds fuel to an already inflamed debate over media narratives, propaganda, and the public’s perception of the Israel–Hamas war — a conflict where the battle for truth is fought as fiercely as the one on the ground.
