In a heartbreaking plea, Ilay David urges world leaders and Jewish communities to demand urgent action to save his brother Evyatar, shown emaciated in a new Hamas captivity video.
Jerusalem — Ilay David, the brother of hostage Evyatar David, is pleading for urgent international intervention after a new Hamas propaganda video showed his sibling in a state of extreme starvation.
“I couldn’t watch the video myself,” Ilay told Arutz Sheva – Israel National News. “I knew that if I did, I would collapse. I have to stay focused on saving his life right now.”
His family described the footage to him in devastating terms:
“Evyatar is a human skeleton, period. He needs treatment immediately. As he is now, he only has a few days left.”
Ilay pointed out the stark contrast in the footage — the well-fed hand of a Hamas terrorist beside his skeletal brother.
“The terrorists never lose weight — only the hostages. They even starve their own people. This is intentional, part of their sick campaign.”
He is calling on Jewish communities worldwide to demand action:
“Take Evyatar’s picture to world leaders. Demand they work to stop this.”
On the ongoing hostage negotiations, Ilay said:
“I trust the Israeli and American governments to be clever and strong enough to do whatever it takes to bring them back.”
Ilay clings to memories of better days — the two brothers singing and playing guitar every Friday — and refuses to give up hope:
“I manifest his return. I see him back home. Even in his darkest hour, I can see he still has hope and faith. We as a family will not give up until we bring him back alive.”
Evyatar David remains among the estimated 50 hostages still held in Gaza, many in dire condition, after nearly 10 months in Hamas captivity.
