Months after losing her husband, Master Sergeant Rabbi Naaran Eshchar, in the Swords of Iron War, Tzuf Eshchar finds love again, announcing her engagement in a moment filled with faith, resilience, and hope for Jerusalem’s restoration.
In a moving chapter of love’s resilience, Tzuf Eshchar, widow of Master Sergeant Rabbi Naaran Eshchar, who fell in Israel’s Swords of Iron War, has announced her engagement to Amichai Weiss of Efrat.
The couple shared their joy on Monday evening in a heartfelt statement:
“With gratitude to God, we got engaged.”
They paired the announcement with an emotional prayer rooted in the hope of national and spiritual redemption:
“And show us, Lord our God, Your comfort for Zion, Your city, and for the rebuilding of Jerusalem, Your holy city, for You are the Master of salvations and the Master of comforts.”
Rabbi Naaran Eshchar, of blessed memory, was just 33 years old when he was killed. A beloved Rabbi and teacher at the Shadmot Mechola Yeshiva in the Jordan Valley, he also served as a tank commander in Battalion 71, Brigade 188 – the Iron Division.
His life was tragically cut short when his tank overturned on Israel’s northern border during intense fighting. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to his wounds. The same incident claimed the life of Sergeant First Class (Res.) Yinon Fleishman, 31, a dedicated reserve fighter in the IDF.
Now, in a story that weaves together grief, faith, and new beginnings, Tzuf Eshchar’s engagement stands as a testament to the strength of the human spirit — and the eternal belief in God’s comfort and restoration for His people.
