Rivka Bohbot, wife of kidnapped Israeli Elkana Bohbot, delivers an emotional rebuke to Prime Minister Netanyahu, warning that a full military occupation of Gaza will only return hostages in coffins — and vowing to fight with everything she has to bring her husband home alive.
In a searing public statement, Rivka Bohbot, the wife of kidnapped Israeli citizen Elkana Bohbot, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of endangering hostages’ lives with his plan to fully occupy Gaza as part of expanded military operations.
“I have no words left. This is simply sacrificing our parents, sacrificing my husband,” Bohbot said in a Tuesday night interview with Kan News. “Why aren’t our hostages—my husband, all the others—at the top of the priority list? It’s painful.”
Bohbot warned that only a negotiated deal could bring the hostages home alive:
“Military force will only bring back bodies. I want my husband home—alive.”
Her comments came after harrowing new footage surfaced of fellow hostages Rom Breslavsky and Evyatar David.
“For me, watching them is exactly like watching my husband,” she said. “I asked to see it, and I saw it—I can’t not look. This is their reality.”
She underscored the urgency of the situation:
“For a long time now, not a single grain of wheat has entered the Strip. Of course, that has affected our hostages. I always send my strength to Elkana—my good energy—telling him to stay strong.”
Bohbot voiced strong support for the flotilla of hostage families sailing toward Gaza in protest and even revealed she would personally attempt a rescue if she could:
“If it weren’t for the fact that I have a child, I’d already be in Gaza myself. I have another passport — I’m Colombian — and I’d go in. I want to do everything so I can say: ‘I did everything to bring my husband home.’”
Her message was clear and personal:
“I can’t sit still. I have to get out there and fight. That’s why I came into this world. This is my war.”
