Hamas Official Blames Netanyahu Alone for Ceasefire Collapse in Gaza

Senior Hamas figure Mahmoud Mardawi claims Israel’s prime minister is sabotaging ceasefire efforts to appease his far-right coalition partners.

In a rare and direct attack, Mahmoud Mardawi, a senior official in the Hamas terrorist organization, has declared that the only path to a Gaza ceasefire is through direct negotiations between the parties — and accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately derailing the process.

Speaking in a public statement, Mardawi charged Netanyahu with “deception” and avoiding genuine engagement in peace talks. He alleged that the Israeli leader has repeatedly taken steps that sabotaged past negotiations, ensuring no mutually agreed deal could be reached.

According to Mardawi, Netanyahu’s hands are tied by fierce opposition from the right-wing bloc of his government, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who reject concessions to Hamas under any circumstances.

Mardawi claimed this is the first time Netanyahu bears sole responsibility for the breakdown of talks — and warned that the Israeli leader’s policies will have direct and dangerous consequences.

The remarks come as ceasefire efforts remain stalled, with international mediators struggling to bridge deep mistrust and competing political agendas.
