Deputy FM Sharren Haskel blasts Canberra’s decision, accusing Australia of handing Hamas a victory born from the horrors of October 7.
Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharren Haskel, unleashed a blistering condemnation on Monday against Australia’s move to recognise a Palestinian state — branding it a dangerous reward for Hamas terrorists.
“Fifty of our hostages remain trapped in Hamas’s dungeons of torture, being starved to death, forced to dig their own graves — yet the Australian government has decided now is the right time to reward the monsters of October 7,” Haskel declared.
Citing Ghazi Hamad, a senior Hamas leader, Haskel noted his chilling admission that Western recognition of a Palestinian state is “the fruits” of the October 7 massacre. “The Albanese government has just rewarded a proscribed terror organisation with further ‘fruits’ from the worst slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust,” she charged.
Haskel also pointed to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s assessment that French President Emmanuel Macron’s recognition of a Palestinian state had already torpedoed chances for a ceasefire deal.
“Australia’s decision won’t change a thing in Israel or Gaza,” Haskel concluded, “but let’s be clear — this is about domestic politics, not peace.”
