A Jewish driver was assaulted and forced to flee on foot after mistakenly entering Mukhmas, a Palestinian village near Highway 60 with a history of anti-Israeli violence.
A Jewish civilian narrowly escaped serious injury Tuesday night after accidentally driving into the Palestinian Authority village of Mukhmas, located near Highway 60 in the Binyamin region.
According to initial reports, the driver was quickly identified as Israeli by a group of Palestinian Arabs, who began hurling rocks at his vehicle. In an effort to escape the escalating assault, the man sped away but eventually abandoned his car and fled on foot.
Farm workers from a nearby area found the shaken driver and immediately alerted security forces. Israeli military personnel later entered the village and recovered the abandoned vehicle. No arrests have been made at this stage.
A Known Flashpoint
Residents from surrounding Israeli communities say Mukhmas has become a recurring source of attacks against Israelis. They claim the village receives backing from far-left activists, some of whom allegedly reside there to monitor and obstruct settler activity.
According to these residents, past incidents linked to Mukhmas have included:
- Physical assaults on shepherds in nearby grazing areas
- A mass confrontation involving over 100 participants
- Police seizure of an airsoft gun and knives from a vehicle left at the scene of one clash
The attack underscores ongoing security tensions in the Binyamin region, where rural roads and close proximity between Israeli and Palestinian communities often lead to volatile encounters.
