IDF Chief in Southern Lebanon: “We’ve Changed the Security Reality – And We’re Just Getting Started”

IDF Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir vows relentless multi-front action, praising troops in southern Lebanon for unprecedented victories and warning that Israel will never allow threats to grow again.

Southern Lebanon became the stage for a bold show of force on Wednesday, as IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir toured the front lines with top commanders, declaring that Israel has reshaped the northern security reality—and will not back down.

Accompanied by 91st Division Commander BG Yuval Gaz, 769th Brigade Commander COL Y., and other senior officers, Zamir addressed both active-duty and reserve soldiers, lauding their critical role in safeguarding Israel’s northern communities.

“The reason we are here today is because we changed the security reality in the northern arena,” Zamir told the troops. “Since the ceasefire understandings, we have eliminated over 240 terrorists and executed around 600 precision airstrikes. These are unprecedented achievements—and they are thanks to you.”

He made it clear that the mission is far from over. “We are in a significant period. Our central task is the defense of the State, the safety of our civilians, and the protection of the north. This morning, we approved plans for operational control in Gaza—and now we are here in Lebanon. At the same time, we are operating in Syria, Yemen, Judea and Samaria, and keeping close watch on Iran. This is a multi-arena war, and we are adapting our strategies to every threat.”

Zamir emphasized the IDF’s proactive doctrine: “We identify a threat, and we eliminate it—on our initiative, in every arena. We will not allow threats to grow. We will shape our national security as we see fit, and we will not go backwards.”

The Chief of Staff urged soldiers to maintain readiness and morale, warning of “many more challenges ahead” and pledging to strengthen operational capabilities.

Closing his address, Zamir spoke directly to the troops: “On behalf of the residents you protect, and on behalf of the IDF, I trust in your vigilance and your determination.”

The message was unmistakable—Israel’s northern front is fortified, its enemies are being hunted down, and the IDF intends to stay one step ahead in every battle zone.
