In a rare, deeply personal interview on Keshet 12’s Special Interview, Gal Gadot reveals she survived a near-fatal blood clot during pregnancy — and says both she and her baby could have died without urgent medical intervention.
For the first time in years, Israeli actress and global superstar Gal Gadot has given an extended, unscripted interview to Israeli media — and it’s nothing like her polished Hollywood press tours. Appearing on the hit Keshet 12 program Special Interview, Gadot offered raw, emotional, and unfiltered revelations about one of the most frightening moments of her life.
“I Could Have Died — And So Could My Baby”
In a harrowing moment, Gadot described discovering a life-threatening blood clot in her brain during pregnancy.
“You suddenly realize what it means to be afraid of death,” she said, recalling how she was rushed into surgery with minimal anesthesia.
“They took the baby out. The next day, they did a cerebral angiogram. It was terribly frightening. We were in intensive care for weeks… slowly, slowly we got out of it.”
Asked if the clot could have gone undetected, Gadot didn’t hesitate:
“Yes. If I hadn’t found out and had the baby, I would have died — and probably so would the baby.”
Breaking the Mold of Celebrity Interviews
Hosted by Rotem Sela and based on a French format, Special Interview is renowned for putting neurodivergent interviewers at the forefront, encouraging candid conversations that ignore traditional celebrity media boundaries.
Show director Anat Stalinsky said Gadot fully embraced the unique environment:
“Gal rarely gives interviews. But she sat with us for three hours and opened up in ways we hadn’t expected.”
The conversation touched on not only her dangerous pregnancy but also the Snow White casting controversy and Golden Globes backlash over her hostage pin.
A Platform for Honest, Unfiltered Dialogue
The program has drawn both praise and criticism for its bold approach to representation, but its success is undeniable. The first season sparked widespread discussion, and this new season promises more emotionally honest exchanges with guests like Amit Segal, Eli Finish, and Hanoch Daum.
“We invest in the community far beyond those who appear on screen,” Stalinsky noted. “The interviewers bring out truths that traditional media often can’t. You see something genuine emerge.”
With Gal Gadot’s deeply human and vulnerable revelations, Special Interview has delivered one of Israel’s most powerful celebrity moments in recent years — one that blends star power with raw authenticity.
