Modi spotlighted India’s defence and space achievements, warned against demographic threats, rolled out massive economic and youth employment schemes, and launched the ambitious “Sudarshan Chakra Mission” for national security.
On India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a historic address from the Red Fort — his longest ever at 103 minutes — setting a record with his 12th consecutive speech, surpassing Indira Gandhi’s streak. In a powerful mix of celebration and caution, Modi hailed India’s military and space milestones, announced sweeping economic reforms, and sounded a grave warning on demographic shifts.
Opening with a tribute to ‘Operation Sindoor’, Modi celebrated “Made in India” defence capabilities that stunned adversaries, crediting a decade of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the defence sector. He then turned to the stars, lauding Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s return from the ISS, affirming plans for Gaganyaan and an indigenous space station, and praising 300+ startups energising India’s space ecosystem.
In a striking security warning, Modi unveiled the ‘High-Power Demography Mission,’ alleging a conspiracy to alter India’s population balance through infiltration, land grabs, and targeting of women — vowing zero tolerance. On the economic front, he promised “double Diwali” cheer with next-generation GST reforms to ease the tax burden nationwide.
For India’s youth, Modi launched the ₹1 lakh crore Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, offering ₹15,000 incentives for first-time private sector hires and rewards for job-creating companies — aiming to generate 3.5 crore new jobs.
Capping his address, Modi announced the decade-long “Sudarshan Chakra Mission” to modernise India’s security forces by 2035, inspired by Lord Shri Krishna’s legendary weapon. “If we have the courage to draw a longer line,” he urged, “no selfishness in the world can bind us.”
