Education Minister Yoav Kisch vowed disciplinary action against educators who joined a video calling for an end to the war and the return of hostages, accusing them of violating ministry rules by engaging in political activism.
In a statement posted Friday on X, Kisch accused the educators of breaching ministry regulations and “collaborating with the false ‘hunger campaign’ in Gaza.” The video, featuring educators speaking out, declared they could not remain silent “in the face of the abandonment of the hostages, the risk to the lives of soldiers, and the hunger and harm to the civilian population in Gaza.”
Kisch drew a hard line, insisting politics has no place in schools: “Any educator who acted contrary to the regulations and expressed political views will be summoned for a meeting in their district. Schools are for education, values, skills, and knowledge — not political battles.”
The clash highlights growing tensions between the government’s wartime stance and grassroots voices calling for urgent humanitarian and hostage-related action.
