Beitar Illit Mayor to Netanyahu: “Apply Sovereignty, End the Draft Saga, and Strengthen the Land of Israel”

In a powerful biblical appeal, Beitar Illit Mayor Meir Rubinstein urged PM Netanyahu to resolve the Haredi draft dispute and apply full sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, framing it as both a spiritual and national mission.

Beitar Illit Mayor Meir Rubinstein delivered a passionate call to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, pressing him to resolve the long-simmering Haredi draft crisis and move forward with applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.

Speaking at a meeting of Judea and Samaria municipal leaders with Netanyahu, Rubinstein invoked the words of King David: “Depart from evil and do good” (Psalms 34:15).

“Turning away from evil—you have already done and continue to do, with great success, against Hezbollah in the north and against Iran,” Rubinstein said. “Now the time has come for ‘do good’—by applying sovereignty to expand and develop our Holy Land, and by ending the Draft Law saga once and for all, recognizing the eternal value of Torah study and those who dedicate their lives to it.”

Quoting again from Psalms (37:3), Rubinstein declared: “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and be nourished by faith.” He interpreted the verse as a divine mandate:

  • “Dwell in the land” – Apply sovereignty over all of Israel.
  • “Be nourished by faith” – Acknowledge and uphold the sacred role of Torah learning.

The mayor also encouraged Netanyahu to stand strong against political rivals, describing them as “the minority ‘anyone but Netanyahu’ camp, who attack both the Haredi community and Jewish settlers.”

In a lighter moment, Rubinstein invited Netanyahu to the upcoming dedication of Beitar’s Givah C neighborhood, reminding him of his participation at the cornerstone ceremony. The Prime Minister warmly accepted the invitation.

Rubinstein’s address underscored the fusion of biblical faith and political destiny—calling on Israel’s leadership to cement sovereignty and secure the future of Torah and settlement in the Land of Israel.Beitar Illit Mayor Meir Rubinstein delivered a passionate call to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, pressing him to resolve the long-simmering Haredi draft crisis and move forward with applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.
