“Pausing for Psalms”: Tens of Thousands Unite in Prayer for Israel’s Hostages

From city squares to the walls of the Jewish People’s Museum, Israelis gathered in a powerful national prayer rally—declaring they will not rest until every hostage is brought home.

On Sunday evening, a wave of prayer and unity swept across Israel as thousands gathered for the “Pausing for Psalms” national rally, initiated by the Hostage Families Forum.

From Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, small towns to kibbutzim, families of the hostages stood alongside rabbis, community leaders, and citizens of all ages, reciting Psalms in one voice, pleading for the safe return of those still held in Gaza.

At the ANU – Museum of the Jewish People, the rally took on a striking visual form. Verses from Psalms and heartfelt prayers were projected onto the museum’s walls, creating a luminous public call for redemption.

“This projection is a moving and powerful expression of one of the Jewish people’s most sacred values—redeeming captives,” said Oded Revivi, CEO of the museum.

The Hostage Families Forum released a statement after the rally:
“The pain doesn’t stop—and neither does the hope. This collective gathering in prayer proves that we are one united people who will not give up on the 50 living hostages and the fallen. We will continue to fight—until everyone returns home.”

The evening closed not with silence, but with determination—a promise that Israel will keep praying, protesting, and pushing until every captive is freed.
