In the largest Aliyah wave in two decades, 225 new immigrants from North America landed in Israel on Nefesh B’Nefesh’s 65th charter flight, marking a powerful act of Zionist commitment during wartime.
Aliyah in the Midst of Conflict
This morning, 225 new immigrants from North America touched down at Ben Gurion Airport aboard a special Nefesh B’Nefesh charter flight operated in partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Immigration and Integration, the Jewish Agency for Israel, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael, and JNF-USA.
The flight, the first charter since the Iron Swords War began, symbolizes both resilience and growth. August alone will see over 1,000 new immigrants, the highest monthly figure in more than 20 years. Since October 7, over 7,000 immigrants from North America have made Aliyah, showing extraordinary solidarity with the State of Israel despite global unrest.
Families, Professionals, and Pioneers
On board were:
- 45 families, 125 children, 10 singles, and 3 retirees
- Immigrants ranging from 9 months to 72 years old
- 5 doctors and 19 healthcare professionals joining Israel’s medical system
- Over 30 participants in the Go Beyond initiative, strengthening Jerusalem and Israel’s peripheral regions
In total, more than 90,000 immigrants have made Aliyah through Nefesh B’Nefesh since 2002.
Voices of Leadership
- Ofir Sofer, Minister of Immigration and Integration: “Even during these difficult times, newcomers are choosing to be part of the Zionist story. We are working around the clock to ensure they integrate into work, housing, and Hebrew studies.”
- Tony Gelbart, Co-Founder of Nefesh B’Nefesh: “This flight is not just symbolic — it’s a real investment in Israel’s future.”
- Maj. Gen. (Res.) Doron Almog, Chairman of the Jewish Agency: “Every new immigrant is a courageous act of faith in Israel’s future.”
- Ifat Ovadia Luski, Chairwoman of KKL: “Their arrival is a tremendous show of trust in the resilience of Israeli society. Welcome home.”
Innovation in Aliyah
For the first time, officials from the Ministry of Immigration and the Population Authority issued Israeli ID cards and immigration certificates mid-flight, allowing immigrants to finalize their Aliyah before landing.
The newcomers hail from across North America — from New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, and Ontario to Washington, Ohio, and Georgia — and will settle in cities across Israel, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Modi’in, Haifa, Beersheba, and Zikhron Ya’akov.Aliyah in the Midst of Conflict
