UK Slaps Sanctions on Iran-Linked Networks, Targets Top Operatives and Companies

Britain escalates its crackdown on Iran’s destabilising networks, sanctioning Hossein Shamkhani and four companies tied to revenue streams funding Tehran’s proxies and global threats.

The United Kingdom has launched a new round of sanctions aimed at cutting off financial lifelines that fuel Iran’s destabilising activities across the Middle East and beyond.

Announcing the measures, Middle East Minister Hamish Falconer said the government is targeting both individuals and companies that operate as extensions of Tehran’s regional strategy.

“Iran’s reliance on revenues from trading networks and connected organisations enables it to support proxies, export instability, and even facilitate state threats on UK soil. That is why we are acting decisively,” Falconer declared.

He stressed that the move is part of a wider plan to protect British security:

“Disrupting Iran’s malign influence and keeping the British people safe remains our number one priority, underpinned by our Plan for Change. We are clear: Iran will be held to account.”

🔒 Who’s Sanctioned?

The following designations include asset freezes, director bans, and in the case of individuals, travel restrictions:

  • Hossein Shamkhani – placed under a UK asset freeze, travel ban, and barred from holding directorships.
  • Petrochemical Commercial Company (PCC) – a key player in Iran’s petrochemical trade.
  • Admiral Group – linked to revenue channels benefiting Tehran.
  • Ocean Leonid Investments – sanctioned for ties to Iranian trade networks.
  • Milavous Group – blacklisted for supporting financial flows connected to Iran.

The sanctions are intended to expose and disrupt Tehran’s use of global business networks to bankroll its proxies, from Hezbollah in Lebanon to militias in Iraq and Syria, as well as attempts to intimidate dissidents abroad.

Falconer underscored that this was only the beginning of increased pressure:

“Today’s designations mark a definitive step — but not the last. The UK will continue to expose and dismantle Iran’s financial lifelines.”
