Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman claims Israel’s previous government, reliant on Mansour Abbas’s Ra’am party, would have “folded” in the face of the Hamas massacre.
Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman sparked controversy Sunday with claims that the October 7 massacre would have been an even greater disaster had it occurred under Israel’s previous government.
Speaking to 103FM Radio, Silman declared:
“If October 7 had occurred under the previous government, everyone in that government would have folded — because of Mansour Abbas.”
Abbas, the head of Ra’am (United Arab List), has documented ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist movement considered a terror organization by multiple countries.
Silman added:
“I can definitely say I brought down a government over its reliance on the Muslim Brotherhood. I’m very glad that Benjamin Netanyahu is currently at the helm.”
🔒 Hostages and War Aims
Addressing ongoing negotiations for a hostage deal, Silman stressed that Israel’s conditions remain firm:
- The return of all hostages
- Adherence to Cabinet-approved conditions for ending the war
- The dismantling of Hamas as a non-negotiable objective
“There’s no way around it,” Silman insisted. “In order to achieve that right now, we need to dismantle Hamas.”
