Israeli Minister Gideon Sa’ar warns Iran remains committed to nuclear weapons and hails Europe’s push to restore UN sanctions as a vital step.
Israeli Minister Gideon Sa’ar issued a blunt warning on Thursday, declaring that Iran has not abandoned its nuclear ambitions even after the recent joint Israel-U.S. strike targeting Tehran’s nuclear program.

Posting on Twitter (X), Sa’ar wrote: “Even after Israel and the U.S. operation against Iran’s nuclear program, Iran hasn’t abandoned its desire to acquire a nuclear weapon. This is why the E3’s move to initiate the return of UN sanctions on Iran is inevitable. It is an important step in the diplomatic campaign to counter the Iranian regime’s nuclear ambitions.”
His remarks refer to the European “E3” powers — Britain, France, and Germany — who are preparing to trigger the so-called “snapback” mechanism, which would reinstate sweeping UN sanctions on Iran over its violations of the 2015 nuclear deal.
The statement underscores Israel’s insistence that diplomatic and military pressure must work hand in hand to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear capability — a threat Jerusalem views as existential.
