A special Israel Police task force arrested 11 suspects and uncovered rifles, handguns, pipe bombs, and ammunition in a sweeping crackdown across Lod, Ramla, Tayibe, and Haifa-area Arab communities.
In a major counter-crime operation, Israel Police announced this week that a special task force successfully prevented several planned violent incidents in Arab communities around Haifa, as well as in the central cities of Lod and Ramla.
The coordinated raids led to the arrest of eight individuals in Lod and Ramla, where officers uncovered a deadly cache including a Kalashnikov assault rifle, three handguns, a pipe bomb with a triggering mechanism, multiple magazines, and assorted ammunition.
In a parallel sweep in the city of Tayibe, police arrested three additional suspects. Searches of two residential buildings there revealed two improvised firearms, more magazines and ammunition, and roughly one kilogram of a substance suspected to be marijuana.
The high-risk operation was carried out by multiple specialized divisions of the Israel Police, including Border Police units and canine forces. Authorities emphasized that the crackdown neutralized imminent threats of violence and prevented deadly attacks from materializing.
Officials said the suspects are now under interrogation, and security reinforcements will continue across the region to prevent further unrest.
