For the first time, a humanoid robot named Xiao He will man the media help desk at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, offering multilingual support and AI-powered assistance.
In a futuristic first, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin, China will feature a humanoid robot assistant at the media help desk. The summit, scheduled from August 31 to September 1, will be attended by leaders from 10 member states, including India, China, Russia, Pakistan, and Iran, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi representing India.
The humanoid, named Xiao He, has been designed as a cutting-edge AI assistant to help media personnel with real-time information, logistics, and protocol-compliant guidance throughout the event.
Introducing itself to ANI, Xiao He explained:
“I’m Xiao He, a humanoid AI assistant for the SCO Summit 2025. I provide multilingual support, real-time information processing, and seamless interaction with journalists and delegates.”
Equipped with emotional recognition algorithms, adaptive learning modules, and vast knowledge databases, Xiao He is capable of handling a wide range of queries while maintaining cultural neutrality and factual precision.
The robot can communicate in three languages and is programmed to continuously optimize performance over the summit’s duration.
Alongside diplomatic talks, the summit will showcase China’s cultural heritage, featuring Tianjin Yangliuqing woodblock prints and traditional craftsmanship displays in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Interactive Experience Zone.
With Xiao He at the forefront, the SCO is putting AI innovation and cultural diplomacy side by side—demonstrating how technology and tradition can converge on the world stage.
