Israeli Cabinet to Approve Military Plan for Gaza City Takeover, Hostage Deal Off the Table

Israel’s Security Cabinet is set to greenlight a full-scale Gaza City operation Sunday, with officials saying hostage deals and ceasefire frameworks are no longer under discussion.

The Israeli Security Cabinet will convene Sunday evening to approve the military plan to seize control of Gaza City, according to a report by Ma’ariv.

A diplomatic source stressed ahead of the meeting that “only the military maneuver is on the table”, making clear that prior frameworks for a hostage deal or ceasefire are no longer relevant at this stage.

The source further explained that any future agreement, if reached, would cover all hostages—both living and deceased—but underscored that Hamas has shown no willingness to negotiate terms for ending the war.

“At this point, there is no indication Hamas is ready to discuss conditions for ending the war,” the source said, adding that no Israeli negotiation team is being prepared.

The upcoming Cabinet approval signals Israel’s determination to press forward with a decisive ground operation in Gaza City, aiming to deliver a crippling blow to Hamas’s command structure while putting diplomatic talks on indefinite hold.
