Jordan and Egypt Halt Gaza Aid Airdrops Amid Rising Tensions

In a surprise move, Jordan and Egypt — key leaders in Gaza’s humanitarian airdrops — have suspended operations “until further notice,” raising fresh questions about aid delivery and regional coordination.

In a development that underscores the fragile state of humanitarian operations in Gaza, Kan News reported Monday that Jordan and Egypt — the two nations spearheading humanitarian aid airdrops into the Strip — have decided to suspend the flights until further notice.

The airdrops, carried out in coordination with Israel and other countries, were seen as a vital channel for delivering food and medical supplies into Gaza amid the ongoing conflict. Their sudden halt leaves uncertainty over how life-saving aid will reach civilians, especially as ground access remains highly restricted.

Neither Amman nor Cairo immediately disclosed the reasons for the suspension, but the decision comes at a time of heightened political sensitivities and mounting logistical challenges in aid distribution.

The move could signal deeper regional friction over the humanitarian crisis, while also pressuring international players to seek new solutions for aid delivery into Gaza.
