In a fiery government meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu called on estranged coalition partners to return, vowing to complete the government’s term, advance the Draft Law, and preserve Israel’s survival against looming threats.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday issued a dramatic appeal to his coalition partners who left the government, urging them to return and help steer Israel through what he described as “existential challenges.”
“This government must serve out its full term. You see what’s happening with the Houthis—that’s why we’re here in this room,” Netanyahu declared during the meeting, according to a Channel 13 News report by Yuval Segev.
The Prime Minister stressed that only his current coalition is capable of leading Israel in this critical period. “We have the Draft Law before us, and there are other matters I won’t elaborate on here,” he said, hinting at undisclosed security concerns.
Outlining immediate priorities, Netanyahu emphasized:
- Ensuring a smooth start to the school year, and
- Bringing coalition partners back into the fold.
He further underlined the urgency of internal unity, particularly over the budget and the Draft Law. “If we complete these tasks, we can continue to lead the State of Israel for years to come. This is vital for our survival,” he asserted.
Taking aim at critics, Netanyahu reminded the nation of recent military successes: “Our opponents in the media and politics want people to forget a small event—which was actually one of the greatest victories in the history of Israel, and perhaps of the Jewish people. Who else would have done this, if not us?”
The Prime Minister expressed disappointment over the absence of the haredi parties, who stepped away due to delays in advancing the Draft Law. “There’s no substitute for this government. I’m sorry our haredi friends aren’t here, because we need to look them in the eye and speak to their minds.”
Netanyahu concluded with a call for ideological resilience: “Not like a bullet, but like a piercing insight—one that reaches both heart and mind. That’s the message I want us all to carry forward.”
The remarks come amid a deepening coalition crisis, with the government’s stability hanging on the return of key partners.
