Heroic Haredi Student and IDF Officer Stop Jerusalem Terrorists With Gun Inherited From Grandfather

A haredi yeshiva student and an IDF Hashmonaim Brigade commander neutralized two terrorists at Ramot Junction, ending a deadly attack that killed six and wounded seven.

Monday morning’s deadly terror attack at Jerusalem’s Ramot Junction ended only after the extraordinary bravery of a haredi yeshiva student and an IDF officer.

According to family members, the student — armed with a pistol inherited from his grandfather and licensed under National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s reform — opened fire on the attackers.

“He emptied the entire magazine on the terrorists,” his brother-in-law told Kol Barama Radio, noting that eyewitnesses suspected the driver of the attackers’ vehicle was also a partner in the assault.

Alongside him, a squad commander from the haredi Hashmonaim Brigade joined in, ensuring both terrorists were neutralized before they could continue their killing spree.

The attack left six dead — including three in their 30s and a man and woman in their 50s — and seven injured, one critically and four seriously.

🙏 Among the wounded:

  • Rabbi Yaakov Sharabani, a leading figure of the Maor Torah yeshiva and son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Salim. He was lightly injured and hospitalized in stable condition. The public has been asked to pray for Yaakov Haim, son of Tamar Ibon.
  • Tova Gittel, cousin of haredi journalist Menachem Kolodetsky, was seriously wounded. In her eighth month of pregnancy and expecting her first child, she remains hospitalized. The public is requested to pray for Tova Gittel bat Miriam Shoshana.

In the aftermath, IDF forces sealed crossings around Jerusalem, with investigations led jointly by the IDF Central Command, Israel Police, and Shin Bet.

The Ramot attack once again underscored the vital role of armed civilians and soldiers in saving lives — and the tragic price of ongoing terrorism in Israel’s capital.
