Remembering the Victims of the Ramot Terror Attack: From Newlyweds to Community Pillars

Six lives cut short in Jerusalem’s Ramot terror attack — from a yeshiva maintenance worker remembered for kindness to a beloved baker, a newlywed, and devoted fathers.

The full weight of tragedy became clear Monday as the names of six victims from the Jerusalem Ramot Junction terror attack were released. Each left behind families, communities, and legacies of kindness and faith.

  • Levi Yitzhak Pash, z”l — A beloved Kol Torah Yeshiva employee and maintenance man, known for his generosity and Torah learning. The yeshiva called him a man who “did many good deeds, gave of his money, and was always engaged in acts of kindness.” He was a fixture of the Bayit Vegan neighborhood, where he was cherished for his devotion to others. His funeral left from the yeshiva Monday afternoon.
  • Yaakov Pinto, 25 — A newlywed who had immigrated from Spain, Pinto’s future was just beginning. He and his wife had only recently started building their life together in Jerusalem.
  • Yisrael Matsner, 28 — A young Jerusalem resident remembered as a dedicated community member, his life was taken in its prime.
  • Yosef David, 43 — From the Ramot neighborhood, David was murdered on his way to yeshiva, his holy books still clutched in his hands — a symbol of his devotion to faith even in his final moments.
  • Dr. Mordechai (“Dr. Mark”) Steintzag, 79 — A longtime resident of Ramot and owner of “Dr. Mark’s Bakery” in Beit Shemesh, he was a beloved figure in the community. Having immigrated decades ago from the U.S., he became known not just for his bakery but for his warmth and presence.
  • Sarah Mendelson, 60 — From Ramat Shlomo, Mendelson was a mother and grandmother whose life was cruelly stolen, leaving her family and neighbors reeling.

The attack also left 12 others injured, several critically. Families across Jerusalem are now preparing funerals while grappling with grief.

The victims’ stories — a baker, a newlywed, a yeshiva scholar, a mother — reveal the human cost behind the headlines, ordinary lives extinguished by terror.
