Trump: “Hostage Deal and Gaza Ceasefire Could Be Reached Very Soon”

President Trump declares that Israel has accepted his sweeping hostage-for-prisoners proposal, warns Hamas this is their “last chance,” while Hamas responds with new preconditions.

Washington/Jerusalem — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he believes a major breakthrough on hostages and a Gaza ceasefire may be imminent.

“I think we’re going to have a deal on Gaza very soon,” Trump told reporters. “It’s a hell of a problem… but it’s a problem we’re going to get done.”

On the fate of the hostages, Trump made a grim admission:

“It could be a little bit less than 20 because some… they tend to die. Even though they’re young people, largely, they’re dying. But we’re going to get them all — the 20 living and the 38 bodies.”

The comments came after Trump confirmed he had sent Hamas a sweeping new proposal that significantly expands past offers.

📜 Trump’s Proposal at a Glance

  • All 48 hostages, living and deceased, released on Day One
  • Hundreds of terrorists and thousands of Palestinian detainees freed
  • Israel halts its takeover of Gaza City
  • Immediate U.S.-managed negotiations to end the war
  • Fighting frozen as long as talks continue

Trump later posted on Truth Social:

“Everyone wants the hostages home. Everyone wants this war to end! The Israelis have accepted my terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning; there will not be another one!”

Sources in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s circle confirmed that Israel is “seriously considering” the proposal, but expressed doubt that Hamas will comply.

🔥 Hamas Pushes Back

Late Sunday, Hamas issued a cautious reply, saying it had received U.S. ideas through mediators and welcomed efforts to halt “the aggression against our people.”

But the group demanded sweeping concessions:

  • A clear declaration to end the war
  • Full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza
  • Creation of a Palestinian-led independent committee to govern Gaza immediately
  • Binding guarantees to ensure Israel does not renege on commitments

Hamas insisted that only under these conditions would it discuss the release of all prisoners in exchange for an end to the conflict.

As Trump ups the pressure with his “last warning”, the ball is now in Hamas’ court — raising the stakes in what could be the biggest prisoner-hostage swap in Israel’s history.
