Ahead of the September 11th anniversary, PM Benjamin Netanyahu compared the October 7th massacre to 9/11, defended Israel’s strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, and warned nations harboring terrorists: “If you don’t expel them, we will.”
On the eve of the September 11th anniversary, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a searing statement, drawing a direct line between Al Qaeda’s 2001 attack on America and Hamas’s October 7th massacre in Israel.
“Tomorrow is September 11th. We remember September 11th. On that day, Islamist terrorists committed the worst savagery on American soil since the founding of the United States. We also have a September 11th. We remember October 7th. On that day, Islamist terrorists committed the worst savagery against the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Netanyahu declared.
Referencing America’s post-9/11 resolve, Netanyahu reminded the world that the UN Security Council barred governments from harboring terrorists:
“What did America do in the wake of September 11th? It promised to hunt down the terrorists… wherever they may be.”
The Prime Minister then linked those principles to Israel’s latest operation in Qatar:
“We went after the terrorist masterminds who committed the October 7th massacre. And we did so in Qatar which gives safe haven, harbors terrorists, and finances Hamas.”
Netanyahu compared Israel’s strike to America’s actions in Afghanistan and Pakistan against Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, insisting that Israel is acting under the same moral authority.
Facing international criticism, he fired back at foreign governments:
“They should be ashamed of themselves. What did they do after America took out Osama bin Laden? Did they condemn America? No. They applauded. They should applaud Israel for standing up to the same principles.”
Closing his remarks, Netanyahu delivered a stark ultimatum:
“I say to Qatar and all nations who harbor terrorists, you either expel them or you bring them to justice. Because if you don’t, we will.”
The Prime Minister’s statement set a defiant tone on the eve of 9/11, underscoring Israel’s resolve to pursue Hamas leaders wherever they may hide — even if it means defying global criticism.
