Smotrich Honors Chabad in Delhi, Vows to Strengthen Israel’s Land & Settlements

During his official India visit, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich visited Delhi’s Chabad House, receiving a rare Tanya edition and reaffirming his mission to fortify Israel’s settlement movement while deepening Indo-Israeli ties.

In a deeply symbolic moment blending faith, identity, and diplomacy, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich visited the Chabad House in Delhi, the spiritual home for thousands of Israeli travelers in India’s bustling capital.

The highlight of the visit was a special ceremony where Smotrich received a beautifully printed Tanya, produced right inside the Chabad House. The Tanya, a cornerstone text of Chabad philosophy, symbolizes spiritual strength and resilience—values that echo Israel’s enduring mission.

Smotrich shared a heartfelt exchange with Rabbi Itzik Scharf, the Chabad emissary, who conveyed the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s teachings on the indivisible integrity of the Land of Israel. The minister, in turn, reaffirmed his unyielding commitment to strengthening Jewish settlement, framing it as both a national duty and a sacred mission.

The Finance Minister also mingled with Israeli and Jewish visitors at the Chabad kosher restaurant, a hub of cultural connection and Jewish identity in India.

The visit came during an Israeli economic delegation’s trip to India, where officials worked to bolster bilateral economic ties and pave the way for new investment agreements between Jerusalem and New Delhi.

This union of spirituality and statecraft highlighted Israel’s dual mission abroad—strengthening Jewish roots worldwide while advancing economic and diplomatic frontiers.
