Syrian media claim Israeli forces raided villages in Daraa province while airstrikes hit Homs, Latakia, and Al-Kiswah, signaling an intensifying Israeli campaign inside Syria.
Sky News Arabia reported early Sunday that IDF ground forces entered several villages in Daraa province, southern Syria. According to local outlets, 18 Israeli military vehicles raided the villages of Sisyon and Jamla, conducting weapons searches.
Israel has not confirmed the reports.
Expanding Strikes Across Syria
The alleged ground incursion follows a string of reported Israeli strikes in recent days:
- Monday: Syrian state media said Israel struck ammunition and missile depots near Homs, also damaging a Syrian air defense base.
- Later in the week: Explosions rocked Latakia amid reports of Israeli airstrikes near the strategic port city.
- Late August: A Syrian military source claimed IDF troops entered a base in Al-Kiswah, south of Damascus, staying for two hours before departing. The same night, airstrikes were reported in the area.
The IDF, consistent with its long-standing policy, said it “does not comment on foreign reports.”
Katz: “Forces Operating on All Fronts”
Though official confirmation remains absent, Defense Minister Israel Katz hinted at broad Israeli military activity.
“Our forces are operating on all fronts, day and night, for Israel’s security,” Katz wrote on X.
The alleged raids highlight the growing reach of Israel’s “war between the wars” campaign, targeting Iranian weapons transfers, Hezbollah positions, and Syrian military sites — with strikes now reportedly accompanied by direct ground operations inside Syrian territory.
